1. Mang nghĩa"bên cạnh"
=If one thing is next to another thing, it is at the other side of it.

- She sat down next to him on the sofa.
- ...a fishing community in northern Canada, next to the Alaskan border.
- The car was parked in the small weedy lot next to the hotel.
- It's next to the coffee shop. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Nó bên cạnh quán cà phê)
- She was sitting next to me. (IELTS TUTOR giải thích: Cô ấy đang ngồi cạnh tôi)
- Steve lives next to a lake, so we’ll be able to go swimming.
- She sat down next to me without a word.
- The baby sleeps in the room next to his parents.
2. Mang nghĩa"Đứng sau....(hàm ý so sánh)
=used for showing that you are not including the person or thing that is really the best, biggest, worst etc when you are making a comparison/when compared to someone or something

- Next to Tony, we’re all geniuses.
3. Mang nghĩa"gần như là...."
=used before negative words to mean ‘almost but not completely’
